Retail Therapy: Lost and Found Shop

Lost & Found is a brick-and-mortar store located in LA, and I've never been there, but their online outpost is amaaaaaazing.  I particularly love the selection of accessories and jewelry, and in addition to clothes, they also have a really gorgeous selection of items for your home.

1. Graham & Spencer Brown & Gray Striped Tee - $250.00
2. Repetto BB Ballet Flats - $119.00
3. Epice Pale Lavender Floral Long Scarf - $225.00
4.  Mariona Gen Long Sleeve Silk Tunic - $248.00
5. Kora Horn Cuff w/ Brass Detail - $210.00
6. Mariona Gen Sequin Detail Tunic - $278.00
7.  Sophia Nova Brown Lambskin Pouch - $130.00

Have a good weekend, y'all!  J and I are off to the mountains with a (very big) group of friends.  It's supposed to be cold, and the leaves are at their peak around Asheville, so I am very excited for a super fun fall weekend.  See you Monday!

Thirsty Thursday: Charles Philip Loafer

I haven't been super into the whole "pajama trend" that's been happening lately.  But then earlier this week, Rebecca, of the fabulous blog Young Sophisticates, did a post on "Slippers For Every Budget".  And when I discovered these beauties by Charles Philip, I got on board.

{Charles Philip "Sophie" Herringbone Loafers - $135.00 via Bloomingdale's}

What do y'all think?  Do you dig it?

Wishful Thinking: October 26.

What I wish I was wearing today...

1. APC Striped Sweater - $139.00 via Farfetch*
2. Adriano Gold Stilt Cigarette Jeans - $225.00 via Stylebop
3. Topshop Madison Leopard Print Loafers - $66.00

*Yes, I know it's a mens' sweater.  So what? I'd wear it.

PS - One reason why this is wishful thinking is because in the past two weeks, I've managed to ruin both pairs of my perfectly broken-in J.Crew skinny jeans.  This is a tragedy because J.Crew seems to have changed their formula for their Matchstick style - it's not as stretchy as it used to be, and I don't like it.  Soooo... do any of y'all have a go-to denim brand that I should try instead?

Swingy.

I wore some variation of this outfit every single day this weekend.  The weather was gorgeous, and the temperature was perfect for some flared jeans, ankle boots, and a swingy top.  These flares made me feel so tall and skinny - I may never go back to skinnies.  Love it.

Jeans - The Limited; Top - Zara; Boots - Lands' End Canvas; Necklace - Premier; Sunnies - Marc by Marc Jacobs (gift from J).

PS - Big thanks to David of Angel's Point of View for all the photography tips!  We met up this weekend and got to talk blogs and fashion and street style in the South.  If you haven't checked out his blog yet, get to clicking.

Retail Therapy: Of A Kind

Do y'all know about Of A Kind?  It's the bomb.com (yeah, yeah, I know).  They feature one item a week, usually from an up-and-coming designer.  The items are exclusive, limited editions created specifically for Of A Kind.  You have to be quick though, because many times the editions sell out within in hours.  And no wonder... they feature some crazy good designers like Tucker, Society For Rational Dress, Clare Vivier, and Lizzie Fortunato.

4. Celia Bag by Rachel Nasvik - $184.00
5. Clove Scarf by Louisa Parris - $195.00

Copycat: Selena Gomez

Ok, I'm guessing this outfit isn't going to be for everyone, but I think it is beyond cute.  I am, however, a sequin addict, so maybe that's part of it.  I definitely think this is a contender for girls' night though.

What do y'all think?  Would you wear sequin shorts?

Hot Mama.

I have a cousin who is a hot mama.  However, being such a hot mama kind of takes up most of her time, and so she asked me for some fall shopping/fashion advice.  Well, technically, she asked all of Facebook for advice, but whatevs.

Admittedly, this is a little bit out of my comfort zone... I don't have a lot of experience with the demands of chasing three kids and running a household (J can attest to that last part, for sure), so I hope that these suggestions are helpful and not way off base.

I assume that with two boys under age 5, skirts and dresses are probably out.  I also tried to keep a budget in mind - the most expensive item is the coat, on sale for $150.  Skinny jeans tucked into boots are always a great option, but to mix it up choose a pair of flared jeans or cropped pants in a fun color.  I'd go with solid tops, and add oomph with an animal print scarf (really any kind of print will do) and easy but polished accessories like black studs and patent flats.  Instead of just sticking with a v-neck pullover sweater, look for different silhouettes like a bateau neck or a longer grandpa cardigan. (For that price, get one in a neutral and one in a bright.)  A silky button down is just as comfy as a long sleeve tee, and a boyfriend blazer is super versatile and easy to throw on when you need an extra layer.  (Obviously, I'm a fan.)  A classic pea coat in navy goes with everything - camel, gray, or olive green would be great choices too.

Ok mamas, speak up... did I do a good job?  Is this helpful/realistic?

PS - Today is the LAST DAY to enter the giveaway to win a pair of Robinson earrings!  Details can be found on this post, and it's super easy to enter.  Make sure you're signed up!  Entries close tonight at 11:59 pm.

Go To.

I know this outfit isn't the most exciting thing ever, but it's my standby.  I wore this to the grocery store and to church (evening service - super casual).  Basically, when I want to look put together, but don't have a year to spend getting ready, I go with skinny jeans + basic tee + jacket.

Jeans - J.Crew; Tee - J.Crew (similar); Blazer - Urban Outfitters (silmilar); Flats - Dolce Vita for Target (old); Sunglasses - Marc by Marc Jacobs (gift from J); Necklace - Bauble Bar; Ring - Bauble Bar.

Retail Therapy: Elva Fields

I've posted about Elva Fields a few times, but if you've never clicked over to the site, you are missing a goldmine.  I am a statement necklace kind of girl, and the ones from Elva Fields are the ultimate.  My heart rate literally speeds up when I browse the site - it's that gorgeous and exciting.  (Also, Emily Wheat Maynard, the designer, lives and works in Kentucky - a place that will always have a soft spot in my heart.)

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Firsts.

Lots of firsts today!  Our first attempt at outfit pics after dark AND a giveaway!

I wore this last night to go see a screening of Bill Cunningham New York at The Nick with my friend Jessica.  Have y'all seen it?  Obviously, I knew who he was before, but holy cow, what a beautiful life that man has led.  If you haven't seen it, it's a must watch.

After the screening, Jessica and I met up with the boys, who were at The Whig for taco night.  And after that, J was sweet enough to take some outfit pictures of me near the Statehouse.  We are practicing for when it starts getting dark at like 5 pm, which unfortunately, is going to be soon.

So, yay for the first nighttime outfit photos...

Jeans - Uniqlo; Blouse - Tinley Road by Piperlime; Bag - Marc by Marc Jacobs; Boots - Old Navy; Earrings - Robinson (c/o).

And y'all see those amazing earrings I'm wearing?

Well, my talented friend Marche makes them, and guess what?  She's giving away a pair to one of y'all!

So yay for the first Penny Loves Charlie giveaway!

To enter, like Penny Loves Charlie and Marche's blog #eyecandy on Facebook.  Then go check out all the different designs that Marche offers in her store.  Come back here and leave a comment letting me know which one is your favorite and what color combo you like.  Make sure you include your contact info in the comment - either your email, Twitter, or your blog/website.  Entries will close at 11:59 pm on October 18.  Good luck!

Furry.

I recently wrote about my new vest obsession.  The latest object of my desire is a warm furry vest to wear through the winter.  I've been obsessively shopping around, and there are a couple of things to consider - (1) you don't want the faux fur to look cheap, and (2) you have to be careful about the cut of the vest so that it doesn't add bulk to your frame.  For me, I think I need one cut longer, and I'm thinking gray fur, but I really love some of the tan ones.  They're so '70s.

What do y'all think?  Would you wear any of these?

1. Sabine Feather Fur Vest - $75.00 via Piperlime
2. Jack by BB Dakota Janika Vest - $65.00
3. Hawke & Co. Faux Fur Vest - $98.00 via Nordstrom

1. Sanctuary Rockin Natalie Vest - $94.50 via Piperlime
2. BB Dakota Garret Vest - $90.00
3. Rachel Zoe Faux Fur Long Vest - $225.00 via Nordstrom

PS - It's weird that all of these came from the same three stores, but if you're looking for more options, Piperlime and Nordstrom have the most variety by far.
