Retail Therapy: Poppin.

Do any of y'all like office supplies as much as I do?  Maybe it's just the nerdy law student in me, but a fresh pack of yellow highlighters and a fresh college rule notebook really make me happy.  So imagine how giddy I was when I discovered Poppin - an office supply website where you can shop by color.  Why, hello pretty magenta stapler and cute navy tape dispenser, welcome to my shopping cart.

Cover It.

I got a new beautiful, shiny, perfect toy yesterday.  And to keep her (clearly the iPhone is a her) beautiful, shiny, and perfect, I need to get a cover right away.  I spent wayyyyyy too much time on Etsy last night, and I found several really cute shops with customizable monogrammed covers, but Plum Street Prints is by far my favorite.  Now... which one should I get?

*All images via Plum Street Prints.

It's so hard to pick one!  Everything I love is an option... chevron, ikat, Greek key.  I think I'm leaning towards the last one in gray chevron with turquoise font.  What do y'all think?

Thirsty Thursday: Rachel Rose Silk Tee

Holy guacamole, I just discovered Rachel Rose's Etsy shop this week (via fellow SC blogger Chassity), and I love these shirts.  Each one is hand painted silk, so they're all one of kind.  Her retail site has a few dresses for sale as well, and it looks like more to come.  I can not wait to get my hands on one of these!

Two Things.

Two of my favorite things are, apparently, still really hot for fall: colorblocking + leopard.  I am loving all of these looks from the J.Crew Fall Collection.

Must have those pink pants!

Pillow Power.

It's been a while since I've done an interiors post, but after my weekend in Atlanta with my favorite little designer, I am refocusing on getting things together for our house.  So far, the search for a mate for the perfect chair has been fruitless... I called so many Home Goods stores yesterday, I wasn't even really sure what state they were in by the end.  I am determined to find another one.  And when I do, they will need some colorful decorative pillows, along with a few for the couch and our bed.  And because I'm me, those pillows will need to be either ikat or chevron print, and hopefully both.  Pillows can be outrageously expensive (who pays $200 for a throw pillow, really?), but luckily I've got a few budget-friendly resources up my sleeve.

There's no better budget friendly resource for cool, handmade goods than Etsy.

Another great resource is Furbish Studio.  Some of the other items on their site are (WAY) out of my price range, but their pillows are stylish and cool and reasonably priced.

Finally, Fabricadabra has some really gorgeous designs.  Theirs are sold as pillow covers, which is cool because it makes it super easy to change them out every now and then to keep things fresh.

Which are your favorites?  Do you have any other good resources I should know about?

No Reason.

Happy Monday, y'all!  I hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did.  If you follow me on Twitter, you know that Tina and I finally found a chair that I LOVE for the living room.  The only problem is that the store only had one, so my project for the week is calling every Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls between Atlanta and Charleston to see if I can find another one.

When J and I got home, I had to run to the grocery store.  I didn't really need to wear heels to buy produce, but heels aren't generally about "need" anyway, are they?  Since I was already wearing my chambray dress,  I decided to do my own version of this look.

Dress - Urban Outfitters; Sandals - Cynthia Vincent for Target; Bag - Mulberry for Target; Bracelets - random store in Charleston, Banana Republic (old), really old bangles.

Retail Therapy: Emerson Made

Happy Friday, lovelies!  I'm off to Atlanta this weekend to hang out with the fabulous Christina Lee and her boyfriend A (who also happens to be J's boyfriend.  I mean, best friend.)  Tina is helping J and I finish up our decorating, so we'll be out hunting for house stuff.  And by "we" I mean her and me... the boys will be golfing, and that way everyone will be happy.  I'm saving up my fun money in the hopes that Tina will also agree to a quick trip by H&M, but if I have any left over, it's going straight to Emerson Made.

I've included some Emerson Made items on the blog in the past, and I want pretty much everything that she makes.  The company started with her famous flower pins, but now she's branched out into clothing and other accessories, and each season is cuter than the last.  If you've never checked out her stuff, don't wait another minute... go click on over there.

Mani Up.

I have a lot of nail polish y'all.

I almost always do my toes myself, but I have never been able to master the art of painting my right hand with my left.  However, like most girls, a salon manicure only lasts about 24 hours before it starts to chip.  Lately I've been getting gel manicures, and I am hooked.  (I go here.)  It costs more, but I have no problem keeping my nails shiny and chip free for 3 weeks, so I think it's worth it.  I like dark colors on my nails in the winter, so I don't know if the gel will work as well for me then because you can see cuticle growth with the darker colors.  But for the warmer months, when I stick to pale pinks and neutrals, the gel mani is awesome.

Another cool thing about it is that it only comes off with acetone polish remover.  That means that if you get bored of the color after a week, you can paint over it (with a darker color).  If you use non-acetone remover, that top layer will come right off again, and your original gel will still be in place.

Right now I have OPI's Lucky Lucky Lavender on my fingers, and to spice it up, I painted on Sephora's Only Gold For Me top coat.

On my feet, I'm more adventurous.  I absolutely love bright pink and orange polishes, and I think orange looks especially good against tanned toes.  My old faithful standby is OPI's Don't Socra-Tease Me.  But lately two Essie colors have been in heavy rotation, Red-y Set Ex and Braziliant.

(Note: Red-y Set Ex is more red than it appears in the picture.)

I want to know what your favorite colors are.  I tend to stick with Essie and OPI... do y'all have any other brands that you like?  Have you ever tried a gel manicure?  Let me know!

How much do you want to be friends with these girls?  Don't they all look so cool?  I especially love the girl in the mustard skirt and chambray shirt in the foreground.  I definitely want to recreate that outfit on my own.

Sorry for the light post today - it's already Wednesday morning as I'm writing this.  I finalllllllllly got to see Harry Potter tonight, and I managed to hold it together (I only cried for 5 mins or so), but I'm not gonna lie... I'm exhausted.  It definitely felt like saying goodbye to friends.

Are any of y'all Harry Potter fans?  What did y'all think of the movie?

Copycat: Reese Witherspoon (Again)

I love pretty much everything Reese wears, so it's no surprise that this is her second Copycat post (first one here).  I think this cute little chambray dress is the perfect summer outfit.  It's easy, stylish, and light enough for sweltering late summer days.  And I love how she paired it with some chunky, colorful sandals and a cute brown saddle bag.  Reese's ensemble comes from Billy Reid and Chloe, but it's easy enough to recreate on a "real people" budget.

Iron and Wine.

No, not the band... but those two words just about sum up my weekend.  My mama came up from Florida to visit me, and we escaped for a little girls' weekend down to my favorite city in the world, Charleston.  The weather was perfect - cloudy but not rainy, highs around 85, and a constant but gentle ocean breeze.  Mom was on a mission to get pictures of some of the gorgeous and intricate iron gates that guard the old mansions down around the Battery.  We spent all of Saturday strolling around the historic district snapping photos, shopping, and then relaxing with a couple glasses of wine at Pane e Vino.

Mom and I were too busy chatting and shopping and drinking said wine to take outfit pictures, but I'll have some for you later this week.  I hope y'all had as great a weekend as I did.  Happy Monday!

Retail Therapy: Shoe Thief

I just realized that my posts have been kind of shoe-centric the past couple of days.  I guess that's what happens when I write my posts on the fly all week with no real editorial plan.  I'm working on that... I have been looking for cute desk calendars, and I actually had a dream that I found the perfect one.  (I have issues.  Who dreams about stuff like that?)

Anyway, I don't know how Shoe Thief found me, but I got an email from them and decided to check out the site, and man, am I glad I did.  They have gorgeous shoes and ridiculous discounts - up to 80% off, all the time.  Check out the goodness...

Pouch Punch.

Everywhere I look I keep seeing super cute bloggers with pouches and foldover clutches.  I treated myself to a pretty green Clare Vivier with my birthday money, and I absolutely love it.  I realize it's not in everyone's budget, however, so I rounded up a couple of options, including a few more wallet friendly choices.

Downtown Girl.

Hey y'all!  Did you notice the new look?  Penny Loves Charlie got a fabulous makeover thanks to my friend Melina of Spotlight Graphic Design.  I love it, and I hope y'all do too.

I'm guest posting for Christy over Slow Southern Style today.  Click on over there, and check out some my favorite spots in downtown Columbia.  Here's a sneak peek at what I wore...

Teal Appeal.

Recently, I decided to participate in a scarf swap with a bunch of other bloggers.  I got paired up with Sarah, who writes the hilarious and fun blog Queen of the Monsters, and she sent me this gorgeoussssss scarf.  Right about the same time, I got this pretty teal dress from Hallelu.  It was like it was meant to be.  I've wanted to try the scarf necklace since I posted about it way back when.  I didn't get mine as perfect as the inspiration photo, but I really liked the look all the same.  And I discovered a bonus that I didn't think about before - a scarf necklace is really light and stays cool around your neck, much more so than the usual chunky necklaces I usually wear, which is great for when you sit outside on a patio chatting with your girlfriends for two hours in 90 degree heat.

Dress - Hallelu; Scarf - Swapped; Bracelet - HandPicked (gift); Sandals - Cynthia Vincent for Target

PS - Go see how Sarah wore the scarf that I sent her here.

Thirsty Thursday: Michael Kors Chronograph Watch.

I've been wanting a big, chunky gold men's watch for a while now.  I keep hoping that I can thrift a broken one on the cheap, but that hasn't happened yet. (What? I don't need it to work... that's what a cell phone is for.)  However, I definitely wouldn't turn this one down either.

Freckle Face.

So you guys, I have freckles.  It's true.  I used to HATE them growing up.  No one else had as many as I did (do), and I always wanted pretty, clear, creamy skin like I saw on girls on TV and in magazines.  Now, though, I think my freckles are awesome, and I love the summer because they pop out so much more when I'm in the sun.  And the more I look around, the more I realize that there are tons of gorgeous women out there with my same spots.

And my two favorite freckle faces, Cintia and Emma...

Food for Thought.

A little inspiration to start off your week...

PS - Hope y'all had a fun and safe Fourth!  We had a great day with great friends, just hanging out at the pool, grilling out, and setting off some fireworks.  Good thing it's a four-day week... I'm not yet recovered from all the fun and sun.
